its the stock lever
If I adjust the cable, take up all the free play and then a little more... clutch works perfect, no creeping.
So that's why I think my adjustment in the primary is off because I dont think I should have the cable that tight

Not! The cable adjustment sets the amount of free play.

But, what difference does it make now?

I haven't had a chance to pop the derby cover off and try that adjustment yet to see if it makes a difference. Im also not sure which way to adjust it for my problem!

Spoke to Barnett.
Get ready for a rant.
Initially I had emailed them, explaining basically my first post. How I adjusted it, the fact its dragging real hard, that if I tighten the cable lots it'll work
They replied "only do 1/4 - 3/8 of a turn loosening" then "did you reuse the stock dampener and seat?"
I replied saying I did reuse cause the instructions said to... i waited a half hour then decided to phone.
I asked why he asked about the seat and dampener.
He says "yaaaa.... you must've received an older kit cause now we don't even supply the narrow friction anymore and state not to reuse the factory spring and seat"
So why isnt that on their website? I think right next to the product it should say something like "UPDATE DO NOT REUSE FACTORY SEAT AND DAMPENER"
Its definitely frustrating

Have these adjustments been done on a cold engine/primary?

So you are using the a full width plate with the damper spring and seat installed?

Hey, sounds like you found the problem..

No. The narrow plate, the new kit comes with a full width plate instead of a narrow plate and eliminates the seat / dampener

I suspect they reason why they screwed up was that HD changed the ball ramps from 21 degree to 18 degree in 2005. In doing so the travel on the pressure plate is reduced about 16%.. After that ramp change they had to remove the damping spring to get the clutch to disengage enough. For me when I was using the plus 1 kit, I already was using an 18 degree ramp (05 up) and a easy-boy arm which together reduces the clutch lift by 50%. I knew I had to remove the damping spring for the clutch to disengage.
