I just changed out the crossover hose when I did my tank lift and didn't use quick disconnects but I do know for a fact that crossover hose is 1/4" I.D., not 5/16" I.D.

1/4" is correct, I believe Softails use 5/16" if I remember correctly

Doesn't matter as either size will flow enough fuel to replenish what the FI or carb uses. The OD size of the 90's should dictate the ID needed.
I've used hemo stats on the attached side, and a rubber cover/sheath on the other when removing my tank for maintanance. Minimal spillage.

Umm, it actually does matter, unless you don't care about leaks if you use a larger than specified hose, and good luck getting it on if you use a hose smaller than specified.

I used one of these:

https://www.motionpro.com/product/12-0037

If you hunt around a bit, you may find them from the actual supplier for a few bucks less... I'm pretty sure Motion Pro just slaps their name on them and marks them up a bit. It works very well, though, I'm very happy with it.

Those work great, but beware in cold weather, they do snap easily...ask me how I know....
I bought an all metal version to replace mine when it snapped.

Good to know, thanks. Were you riding when it happened, or were you disconnecting it?

The Goodridge unit looks pretty nice...
