Default '02 dyna will start in gear.

My bike will start in gear, or try to anyway.

I mean, without the clutch pulled in or anything.
No big deal as long as I remember. But, when I forget, it sucks.

What should I be looking for to fix that ?

Neutral switch ? Clutch switch ?

Thanks guys.

Mine does that too. There is no clutch lever switch or sidestand switch, thats the problem. Once you are aware of it its no big deal.

If I park my 02 SuperGlide or my 05 L/R in gear and try to start with out pulling in the clutch the bikes will move also. To solve the situation, park in neutral unless the bike is on an incline then it's your call.

My bikes are always in neutral when parked on level ground. I hope. I'm always asride when I go to "light the fire" so it doesn't really matter. Clutch in also. DON'T TRUST THE LITTLE GREEN LAMP, either! It only takes "once..."

I have other bikes that will not crank unless the clutch is pulled.

My 2004 does the same thing. Took Harley a while to get their act together. I am sure if you wanted to, you could get a stand switch and the other necessary parts from Harley to plug and play fix it. If you think you should, do it. I have hit mine one time. I ride other bikes and have hit the starter once going for the horn.

Here's a solution that won't cost you a dime. Just make it a habit to pull in the clutch when you start the bike.

Pull in clutch as is the smart thing to do. And the added side benefit is if not already in gear it helps to reduce "clunk" when you do put it in gear.

Coming from all Japanese bikes, you could not start a bike in gear. A few weeks ago i wanted to let the bike run for a bit and tried to fire it up in gear. The bike lunged forward and it almost dropped! Scared the crap out of me.
