Default drag pipes on a 99 FXDWG

I have a nice set of drag pipes for my 99 FXDWG 88cu twin cam, but do you have to adjust any fuel settings or anything when you add drag pipes, i got a set on my older 74 Ironhead and i didnt have to change anything else, but since the Wide Glide is newer i just wanted to make sure it would not affect the running anyways without adding or changing anything.

Thanks in advance

If it's a full system, then yes definitely. If they are just slip on pipes, then many will say no, but I'd still recommend it. Anytime you modify anything performance related, it's a good dea to retune/jet carbs. As everyone knows, Harleys run lean as hell from the factory. Lean=heat, heat=unhappy Harley.

I went from a full stock system to (basically) Short Shots and it ran fine. 1999 TC88. Mikuni 42. I probably adjusted the mixture and idle, but that's just a couple screws.

I believe you'll lose some performance from the engine with the drag pipes, might want to consider some torque cones in the exhaust outlet.

they technically may not be called "Drag pipes" they are like those in the picture below, (man I love the way his bike looks) , All I know is they are allot louder and even nicer looking then my stock pipes that are on there now

Is your 99 carbed or injected? Carbs are more forgiving, IMO.

No worrys, man. You'll be fine. Worst case, you have to change out a needle or nozzle. I'm assuming it's still the CV carb. I'm not familiar with them, but the forum isn't short of guys who are.

you should put some eyehole bolts in the pipes, they will allow for some back pressure, and they will be adjustable. I did this on my sporty, make the bike run alot better and improved the sound of the exhaust.

I don't want to start an argument or be disrespectful, but it is my opinion that this is a bad idea because if you have any problems in the future, you more than likely won't be able to get the exhaust warrantied. Also, it will be a real pain if you make a mistake.
