The best way for you to know which is right for you is, if at all possible, test ride them both.
I've owned Wide Glides and did have a NightTrain for a short time; there is a difference. The Softail has the 'B' engine and a different frame and suspension and doesn't have the same 'feel' as a Dyna. If you can ride each one you'll discover which is the better choice for you.
My Wide Glides are still here, the NT?

I agree with the others in this thread. I bought a Softail Slim S last year and sold it. Now I have a Low Rider S. The dyna fit me better, had more pep, and felt more mechanical. They are both very different animals. Just ride both and you'll definitely feel the differences. You just have to find which one is for you.

I owned ONE "B" engined Harley and HATED it. Felt too much like a metric bike. Got rid of it after only 3 months! I'd never buy any Harley with the counter balanced engine again. I've owned several "baggers", 3 Electra Glides, a Road King, and a Street Glide, and I'm now back on a Low Rider. Dynas are the BEST "motorcycle" Harley makes. JMHO.
