Bike won't start in gear

Is this normal? Most times my bike will not start unless it is in neutral.
In first gear with the clutch pulled I get nothing. My sportster started in gear no problem.

Is it on the kickstand when you do this.

Do you by chance have a tune from Power Vision??? Mine did that with one of the tunes I loaded.

Don't know how to put multiple quote in one reply so...

NO- kickstand up and no start.

Yes USA bike from south Florida.

And it came with a Screamin Eagle tune, AC, and Rineharts

Inside the clutch handle assembly there is a button that when depressed by the clutch handle should allow the engine to start IN GEAR. Right?
But for all this to work both the clutch handle assembly and switch housing have to be fitted against each other tightly or the clutch lever cam won't depress the button far enough to work.

Have you recently changed your risers or bars? My FXDLS started doing this right after I changed the risers and pretty sure I needed to get in an adjust the clutch a tad. Deployed right after though so now it sits and waits until I get back.

Also rented a '17 Road Glide in Hawaii when we stopped and it was doing it as well. I know it was because the housing was loose as it was REALLY loose. like I had to keep stopping and tightening it up. Pretty frustrating.

My 2011 FL will crank/start in gear with clutch lever pulled in. My 2011 Heritage would not, it had to be in neutral. It's a bitch on the Heritage when I stalled it on the RR tracks and a train was coming.

Why do you want to start it in gear? You'd have to be holding the clutch in anyway or it would pop forward and die immediately, unless you were sitting on it. At that point, might as well be in neutral anyway and just shift into 1st and take off....
