Me, I like it. Even used a chrome washer under it to stand it up a bit taller, it's a pretty little bit of shiny...

The knurled screw is nice and functional. Toolless, too, which is nice for service.

When I had a fender, I used a paint-matched stainless button head. Was a bit a pain since I needed to have an allen wrench on hand to hook up a battery tender.

If I wanted to be a bit more flashy, I'd probably use a Rocket Bob's screw...

I almost started a similar thread recently, so this is good timing for me... I've had two cheap aftermarket seat screw inserts fall out this year, so I've been wondering whether there's a better design out there... I've been thinking about just welding a nut to the inside of the fender. Right now I have it nut-and-bolted, but I really want a toolless solution as I seem to have the seat off quite a bit, and may soon have a second seat that I'll switch with sometimes. I really like having as much stuff as possible be "quick release" Those common knurled ***** don't work for me, as they dig badly into the back of my LePera Daytona 2-up. The Rocket Bob design Chris posted might work though, it seems a touch smaller in diameter. Cool!

Check MSC or McMaster-Carr for "Thumb Screws"... There are many options.

Oh, and a permanent no-weld solution to replace the cheap captive nut would be a "rivnut". Usually they require a special tool for install, but careful use of a bolt, nut, and washer(s) can substitute.

Thanks Chris, the Rivnut idea looks strong... That's pretty much perfect!

I don't know how I never found the McMaster-Carr site before... I just totally blew off an hour in which I should've been working looking at schematics of nuts and bolts... I can easily get lost in there!

Yeah... I spent many hours with their (and others) sites and catalogs back when I designed production assembly jigs and tools. There are a lot of cool little widgets out there.

I thought this one was pretty damn cool. The locks not much of securing but its some securing. Im thinking of getting it, especially with adding an expensive seat to my ride
