New England weather=no riding
im looking to throw some money at my bike while it's down until spring. My budget is 2,000-2,500. I'm going to have my Indy do most the work, I'm looking to adds some HP and put on some apes (14in Todd's). He suggested the fueling 574 cams, he priced the job at 1,000 with parts. I'm wondering what else I could do while I'm getting the cams done that'll add HP and save on labor cost in the long wrong possible oil pump?

Well I'm always a big advocate of big bore kits. Maybe 107 or 110 cylinders?? You could always have headwork done too. I know others will argue but I've never been big on upgrading oil pumps unless the specific upgrades you perform suggest it. Keep us updated.

I say a fuel moto 107 kit. Or simply cams and a little head work will net good results to keep budget allowing some bar change too.

I'm not sure that the Fueling 574's are necessarily a great bolt in cam. I have them and like them a lot but they were paired originally with ported heads and a comp change, then later went from a 103 to a 107.

Likewise I've never felt the need to replace the oil pump which from all my reading and in communications with folks like Vee Twin and Fuelmoto are just fine until you get into the much larger builds.

For that kind of money, I'd invest in something like a FM kit (with new cylinders, heads, pistons, cams, lifters, etc.), or one of the many fantastic sponsors here. As mentioned above I used Kirby at Veetwin, bought everything through him, and then self installed. His porting work, new valves, guides, etc were (are) beautiful. I think he has a kit that would bring you up to 107 with great street manners for around $1500 including head porting but I may be wrong about that. Best way to increase HP will definitely be through the heads.

Good luck with your planning, take your time, ask the real pros what they suggest based on your riding style and you won't go wrong!

Like the others said, fuel moto kits would be the way to go. I meant to mention that when I mentioned the 107/110 kits but I'm easily distracted oh look a butterfly!!! Anyway I've heard really impressive things about the fm 107.

Get a studio apt in Arizona, bring yer bike and ride the crap out of it for the next 5 months!

get some heated gear and you can ride with me thru the winter.......
