Default this problems gonna get my husband killed

my husband just recently purchased a 2009 dyna super glide custom. this bike is beautiful! he has owned it less than a month and already is having issues.
it is hesitant to start, sounds rough when he gets going. while going down the road it starts jerking back and sometimes back fires. seems to be losing power should be going 60mph with the acceleration given bu baerly reachingting 20mph, the speedometer begins jumping dropping to zero then back up. it stalls in the midst of driving which has almost gotten him hit a few times.
any ideas please, PLEASE let me know.
thanx

Might be far fetched, but my dad had a similar issue with his 09 Super Glide Custom, it'd act the same waywith jerking just on a lesser scale than what you're dealing with, but the speedometer would die and come back just like what your husband is experiencing. We found it to be the voltage regulator, replaced it and the jerking and flickering speedometer went away. But as stated above, best thing to do is to take it to someone qualified. Good luck with it!

its the battery connection. its loose or corroded. remove the terminals and scrub it with sand paper. then tighten them back to battery securely. I would be that's it

^^^ that, bad battery connection is causing the plugs to not spark all the time and loss of power. When the plugs don't spark the fuel gets pushed out the exhaust and causes a popping sound.

Something with the charging system. battery, voltage regulator, or stator. Check all 3.

As stated above, I'll go with battery connections.

I'd go with taking it to a good mechanic/dealer and having it checked thoroughly. Just my two cents.

Agree with all the above.. Your are too far from me, cause there's two guys here that are good.
But in Greenville I know there should be several good wrenches..

Good luck and safe rides...
