Default Metzeler 888?

It has been a few years since Metzeler started phasing out the 880s with the 888s. I need to replace the two tires on my '07 FXDL and I see they finally have my sizes (100/90-19 and 160/70-17) available. Anyone have any experience on the new dual-compound tires? I searched and the last thread on here was a couple of years ago. Must be more guys running these tires now. I am primarily thinking about handling on the 888 vs 880.

the Metzlers are mostly high mileage with decent traction + handling, but better handling stickier tyres generally wear faster, a tradeoff for sure. i put radials on my 06 sporty for a better ride + handling + decent wear, bias tyres are outdated IMO!!

Wink Good results with the ME 888's...

Two and half years ago when I bought my 2010 Dyna SG it came with an ME 888 on the rear. When it was time to replace I stayed with the ME 888 and am now on my third. They have averaged 14K miles a piece though I must admit to being an old guy who has never scraped a peg.

The handling is good though I rarely ride in the rain so no serious opinions there. I replaced the front about 8K miles ago with a matching ME 888 and it still looks good. Under the theory of "if it ain't broke don't fix it..." Methinks I'll stay with the Metzlers as they have worked well for me.

As always.... Opinions and YMMV

I'm running an 888 on the front, they didn't have my rear size when it was time to replace it so I'm running the 880 on the back. I'm a big fan of the Metz tires.
Love the way they handle wet roads and uneven surfaces (tar snakes, cracks, etc).

got the rear tire a few weeks ago, love them so far. feels much more stable and grips much better than the stock scorchers. will get the matching front tire when that time comes.
