Default Modifying Craftsman lift for Dyna

I picked up a '13 Switchback last week very cheap. It needs tires and some TLC (mainly soap and aluminum polish).

My tires came yesterday and I went to jack the bike up with my Craftsman lift. I had forgotten that Dyna's need a different jack than other Harleys.

I found a youtube video that details how to convert a Craftsman jack to work with a Dyna. Basically just moving the lift pads from the top to the side of the lift. I don't have a concern with the four 1/2" bolts being able to support the weight of any bike.

I'm wondering if anyone here has made this modification, and how it worked for you. If the weather is good tomorrow, I'm planning to get to work. 8" of snow today, sheesh!

Good news. I'll hopefully get it done tomorrow.

Thanks!

I did mine, it seems like it would be a better fit if I had gone with some 1/2 spacers between the arms and the pads and longer bolts.

Sorry, but modifying a jack & relying on 4-bolts to hold your $pendy ride is iffy...IMO. Not trying to start another jack war...just not my way of thinking/working. That x-member is there for a reason (added stability) and it just doesn't seem/look safe.

Yes, I drank the Cool-Aid years ago and bought the $400 J&S, but this thing's rock-solid. Lifting/storing my bikes for 7+ years and...it fits under a Dyna w/o modification (perfectly).

JMO so...have a great day & Flame-away!

You know I'm certainly not going to flame you You'll pry my J&S from my cold, dead hands. Absolutely one of the smartest things I've ever bought.

My Wide Glide is sleeping on it right now, safe and secure...
