2005 Dyna Wide Glide Mid Mount Peg Options
Hello,
I am a first time Harley owner, and although I LOVE my new 2005 DWG, the forward controls are a little tiring for longer trips. I have seen several "kits" and options for pegs/boards to mount in a mid positions, just to use as a foot rest (which is what I'm looking for), but still have yet to see a finished picture and/or know if this is a viable option on my bike(seems as though 2006 and newer is easier). Anyone have this type of mod done, and any advice or thoughts? This is listed (below) on Ebay and says they fit but not sure where exactly these are supposed to be mounted. Thanks in advance for any help, etc!

Mid Pegs
The ebay listing looks like they are for crash bar (engine guard) mount. To have mid mount foot pegs on your bike, you need to see if the mounting bungs are there...welded to the frame. If so you need to order a couple of parts or buy take off parts from the free or parts for sale forums.
I personally have mid mount with controls and what I call highway pegs mounted where your forwards are. First, mids give most everyone better control of the bike in any situation. Second, the highway pegs allow you to stretch out on longer rides.
If your wide glide came with forward controls, it would be expensive to change the controls to mids...IE new inner and outer primary to accommodate the shifter shaft that goes through.
If you want those pegs, you can buy a engine guard and mount them to it.

I have a 99 Wide Glide with both the stock fwds + HD mids.
Look at lowest horizontal part of the frame. Below the transmission, pointing straight out the side of the frame tubes. There are heavy cast mounting lugs welded to the frame. Two threaded holes each. The holes may have plugs in them if nobody ever removed them.
I can't speak to floor boards. Never been there.
For pegs, tho...You need the brackets that come out and up from those lugs. The pegs then mount to, and fold on, the brackets.
Be aware that not all exhaust systems will play well with both mids & fwds.
I can get a pic of my brackets if you need.

Due to a swinging arm bag, i am thinking of using a clevis pin, in lieu of install/remove the bolts/nuts for the pillion pegs
PS. away from home/bike, its not that i am too lazy to go to the garage

I suppose in addition this could be considered a bit of an anti-thief device, if it was to be extended to the front pegs
