Default 17' Dyna fxdls loud primary and metal shavings. Please help.

My primary is loud. The bike has 4800 miles on it. I run redline in all holes.
So after inspecting the inside i noticed metal coming from the hole that the shifter rod comes thru. Im posting pictures. The shift rod is pretty loose. Is this normal? Im guessing not but im just looking for some guidance before i start taking this apart. I need to know what im getting myself into here. Thanks guys.

It is a 2017? Assuming it is still under warranty? Wouldn't it be a good idea to contact or have the dealer resolve any potential issue you have?

Check your compensator REALLY good and look for wear marks..What kind and when are you hearing noise?
On a side note that dealer sounds like a jackass.

it rattles loud on cold start and it gets louder the higher the rpm. Doesn't matter what gear i dont think. It always rattled on cold but now it rattles even after riding for a while. I also installed Rockouts and it didn't help the noise issue.
To check the whole conpensator will i have to completely take it off? Also if my shifter shaft is loose will it need replaced anyways?
I took some pictures of the primary if it helps. Thanks

Almost hate to say it, take the kit off replace with stock and take it back. If you're able to.
Or try another dealer especially if a dealer did the work.

I agree..If you haven’t found anything glaringly obvious I wouldn’t go any further. As for the shift linkage, yes it’s supposed to be “loose”. Really should try and get the dealership to work with you.

I would fight the dealer on the warranty. Yes technically even though your bike isn't covered under the EPA consent Decree the tuner can void the warranty..The Engine Warranty only. The rest of the warranty should be in effect. Also for them to void the warranty repair they would need to prove the tuner caused the issue which I am guessing it didn't

So even if they voided your engine warranty ( go to another dealer and have them put your VIN in the system to check) Because only HD themselves not the dealer can void the warranty, Even if the engine warranty is voided....the primary and trans warranty should still be intact

How did they know you have an FP3 tuner? Did you leave it plugged into the bike when you took it in? Or did they scan your bike looking for a tune like a FORD dealership does?
