I am not doing all the work for you guys.
I posted that one lab test because of the elaborate lab test all in one concise article.
It is simple to read and written for avg Joe on the street.
There are many many more.
Look them up under independent oil lab test.
Yo can spend hours or minutes but the results arw all the same
Your computer works as good as mine , do it.
I am not an oil dealer of any sorts. Nothing to gain just learned.
I do read a lot and study.
I will switch oil brands in a heartbeat if i find better.
Over here in the Porsche world, there was a "Brad Penn" rage at one time because it was slightly better then
others in some areas. ( I cant remember if it was boron or zink)
But the point is it was tested an found that each batch had a fluctuating menu.
The point?
Some brands can be great for awhile but they do change!
So keeping current lab reports on your desk is a good thing.
Over the last 15 years the same few stay right at the top.
Truly, and i don't give a rip what anyone buys.
This is not an oil war on my part, just shred information
Do as you wish.

A tip of the hat to TinCupChalice for pointing out what the manual says to use for temps over 80 degrees F and that is straight 60 weight.
I only ride when its warm anyway so I run Amsoil straight 60 weight.
I have roller lifters and a high lift cam and I get zero noise including on initial start up.
Mobil One is a fine lubricant and you are not going to be hurting anything using it including using a weight less than recommended but if the engineers recommend 60 weight who am I to argue?

Take your time about 10 min and peruse this , it is pretty simple

Back then Amsoil was only available from franchise dealer. Has that changed?
Test did not include Redline at the time. Wonder how it compares.

I am no even claiming to be the oil expert here-I just know hpw to read.
Back in the day 60s and 70s going through a qt of oil was not even a conversation item worth mentioning.
If I remember right my iron head manual said qt every 250 miles was ok!
Mine did better than that, maybe 800..
So it would have been a big deal about getting the prper stuff.
now my local Napa dealer sells AMSOIL, and the guy next to him does too.
.When I go on long trips I bring a qt with me as i will use about a 1/2 a qt between here and Sturgis. (last time) about 4500K total miles)
Today's engines are so much better!
So a long winded answer - with the internet and all AMSOIL is EZ to find.
Heck at Sturgis they have oil changing stations.
There is not much difference in the top 5 brands or so, use what you like.
Again I am not a dealer of any sorts

I read that article when it first came out. Been using Mobil 1 synthetic in my autos, street bikes and dirt bikes because if it came in 2nd in tests conducted by Amsoil it must be good. Also I can get it at Walmart, Pep Boys, Autozone, etc.
Back then Amsoil was only available from franchise dealer. Has that changed?

Study all this for awhile and tell me what you think

I think a product that is tested by the manufacturer of that product will always come out on top.
If you Google you will find several websites that have rated motor oils. Mobil 1 seems to come out near the top.
But that’s just the way I think.
I’ve used Mobil, Pennzoil, Castro. Spectro, Valvoline, Yamalube, etc. They are all good products or they wouldn’t have been in business as long as they have.
