Default Insurance repair/Parts question

Back in June I was hit by an ol' lady leaving my gym parking lot. Bike went down, I got thrown, and after it was all said and done it's been valued at about $3k worth of damage. My question is when the insurance company (I have Progressive) cuts the check to get the parts, is it possible for me to have the dealer throw on a different set of bars vs just replacing the set I originally had? Id like to go with the Burley 14" narrow bottom apes in lieu of the 12" apes I have on there now. Any one had any experience with this kind of thing?

Thank guys!

Should be, when that happened to mine the insurance company had damage appraised and priced all parts at msrp plus labor and cut me a check. Even my aftermarket parts such as my tail light they priced the OEM equivalent which was much more expensive. Using that check and parts sheet I had I left some stuff off like my primary cover that was $400 but only had a tiny knick on the bottom, i swapped my levers for chrome ones for less than just 1 oem silver lever. I had the harley tail light put on, etc. My dealer was very patient with me and did like I wanted so even though the experience sucked I ended up with some upgrades and some money left in my pocket so I'm happy

Can do whatever you want...you have $3k to fix the bike with OEM/aftermarket/used parts, or not fix the bike even. Whatever you want to do with it is your decision.

They will probably cut you a check and you can buy what you want. But with me they only allowed $44/hr labor. Said they could negotiate with the dealer to get a better rate.

When I got my survey about how well I liked the service I got from Progressive, I challenged them on the $44/hr labor rate. Then they said they made a mistake, should have been $88/hr and sent me another check.

All in al I'm happy, but I have not got my renewal yet to see if they are gonna boost my rates.

100% yes. However. If there is a problem with a part you choose the insurance will not take care of it. You will be fine and just pay the difference.
