Dyna doesn’t go past 3rd gear but still hits 80
Hey all,
I’m new here to both the forums and motorcycles. I picked up my first ride yesterday, 2016 Dyna Street Bob. Rode it around locally before the purchase and it ran strong. When I got on the freeway, I got up to around 70-80mph smoothly in just 3rd gear. Then I noticed I couldn’t shift past third gear at all. But at 3rd gear, it runs as if it’s in 6th gear already. No redlining, and really smooth. The fastest I went was 90 and there didn’t seem to be any problems. The gear speeds are as follows: 1st gear can get up to 30mph, 2nd to around 50mph, and 3rd gear starts around 60mph and literally all speeds after that, 3rd gear can hit. The used dealership I purchased from is closed today and it’s bothering me so I was just hoping to get some feedback because I’ve never heard of such a situation and can’t find anything on it. Just want to know if anyone has heard of this and if it will negatively affect the bike. Thanks |
where are the RPM's when you hit 80?

I think the bike is posessed by demons, better have it exorcised...

90 in 3rd? That's a REAL Screamin' Eagle!

Sounds like on of them bikes that when you let off the brakes the wheels start spinning almost instantly...

"Then I noticed I couldn’t shift past third gear at all."
Clarification request: Are you saying you cannot engage 4th-6th gears? "...and literally all speeds after that, 3rd gear can hit." Ditto: What does this mean? . |
Weird.... |
