Default Harley Maintenance nightmare

I have a 2007 low rider just purchased about 4 months ago, all of the things I have been reading on this forum is that this is a maintenance nightmare..I have always owned Honda's and maintenance was just valve adjustment and oil change. I think I might sell and go back to the Honda,. Harley's are just Maintenance pigs ! anybody interested in a 2007 Low Rider with 21K on the clock ? I have already done the oil hole changes, clutch adjustment and replaced the front motor mount and know I am getting afraid of what else needs done. The bike runs strong but this Maintenance is a real drag ! I put about 200 miles on it so far and getting afraid of the what needs done next !!!

Waaaaa, I had to change a motor mount on an 11 year old motorcycle.

Waaaa, I had to change three types of oil.

Waaaaaa, I want my Honda back.

Don`t let the door hit you...

You're making way too much out of this; an HD is a tractor; think Farm-All. They are, with the exception of the CANbus nonsense, which you don't have on your '07, simply red brick stupid to work on.

You've got 3 holes instead of one; that's a plus. You can select the proper lubricant for each. Engine mounts are wear items, just like tires. Doesn't matter the mileage, the mounts are constantly supporting the engine/primary/transmission/rear fork/rear wheel. They will wear out. Changing out a mount is a 2 beer job.

Read a lot less, go ride your bike. You've barely ridden it at this point. You've got your 11 year old ride refreshed; good job, now make some miles and see why so many of us won't ever give them up...

The only thing that you have done is change a motor mount that IMO you should really not have to do so soon.

The rest is normal for anything, changing oil should be done on anything you own , I mean are you not going to change the oil on a honda ? You dont seem to think adjusting the valves is a big deal honda but adjusting the clutch cable on the Harley is ?

No valve adjustments, coolant changes or chain lubrication compared to most Honda's, that's a plus. Otherwise maintenance is really similar and very easy. And spark plugs! 5 second change there, I change mine when I'm bored because they're so cheap and easy lol

Have a peak in the cam chest of piece of mind and you're good to go.

Harleys are the easiest and cheapest to maintain.

We're in to October now; time is drawing short before the end of it for the season. Watch your tire pressures, and ride. The more you learn about your ride the more you'll realize just how simple it really is, and that the maintenance is just another bonding experience with the bike. Ride, and you'll begin to discover that an HD is more than just the sum of its parts; those parts are, by every standard, antique; we all know it. But ride it, and you'll see how the parts work together and make it more than the sum of the parts.

Ride it; she'll tell you what she wants and you'll learn how to hear it, and how to feel it; take care of her, and she'll give you the motorcycling experiences of a lifetime...
