Changed Stator

Just finished replacing stator from cycle electric old one burnt up, Outer primary still not on bike 11 96 cuin sb wanted to insure everything was in working order tried to fire up the bike will turn over but won't start. Not sure battery was charged enough haven't ridden in about 3 or 4 weeks, put battery on trickle charger over night took battery to parts store to have tested, battery is fine. Going to try to start after work. I have shop manual for my year & model, would there be any reason bike would not start with primary cover off?

Lack of a primary cover won't prevent the bike from starting.

Everything is good guess I didn't have a fully charged battery, took a hour drive the dreaded engine battery lights are gone.

Stator replacement was not as difficult as I thought, shop manual was most helpful kinda like a puzzle. Shaved inner primary so rotor would come out,friend loaned me torque wrench, new stator slipped in no problems. Indy shop wanted a little south of $500. bucks part was $125. free shipping.

how many miles were on your stator? I have 37k on my bike, wondering on the average life span of the stator.

About 17k , but I got a buddy 02 super glide with 60k that bike is bullet proof. Stators regulators batteries can go anytime. You'll know when you have a bad stator smelly.
