Soooo I need a motor replacement on my 2001 FXDX and having a hard time justifying costs vs performance.

Harley has a long block exchange program where I can send in my motor a new 88”, 95” or 103” for around $4k- $5k with all of the upgraded components. Seems silly to drop that much money to keep an 88” or 95” (which I have). Not sure how much id benefit from a 103”.

Additionally, I’m considering an S&S crate motor. Money is tight, but is seems for about $6,200 I can nab a new 111” bulletproof engine. That extra $1,200 would buy a lot of smiles.

Im not going 124” or 143” at this time, but what does the peanut gallery vote for? Any other options/ideas? Thanks!

Aren’t 124 around that price though? Or you’re staying away from them for reliability and longevity?

price, longevity, reliability. I think I’d have to get into other upgrades on the bike if I drop that monster in there.

I say do it lol you’re replacing a motor anywho which prolly means you’ll keep it for a couple years unless you’re on those people who dump thousands then sell at a loss to fund another project lol
