I won't say it's a waste of money, but it's just not needed, there is nothing wrong with late model pump & plate, I've got 142K miles on my 09 and it still runs great oil pressure. I don't see the need for gear drives either, I put cams in at 47K & there was little to no wear on the tensioners, I did ported heads at 100K & replaced the tensioner pads at that time, one was about 1/2 worn & the other a little bit more. It's your money, but you're looking to spend close to a grand that's not needed.

last year I did a swap with woods 222's and S&S premium lifters and quickee rods, curious, are your new lifters quiet on start up, just wondering because on cold starts, I get a ticking for several minutes, always from the front cylinder like a slow pumping up lifter, I went with the premiums as did not want to to open the cam chest for a long time.

I would try a gear change first if you are not planning on doing head work or raising the compression. You will be surprised at the performance feel of lower gearing. All of the low end torque you are looking for.
30 front belt pulley and either a 68 or 70 rear. I went 30/68 and to me its perfect.

I have been reading about CR 570-2. Impressive numbers. I decided to go with CR 570-2 right now and after 35-45k miles I will find someone who will weld and true the crank. And after that I propably will change to gear drive.

I recently switched out a set of Andrews 57H cams for Woods 222's. The 57's were great above 3k rpm and pulled to redline, but the low end was lacking. Maybe it's specific to my setup, but I found them rough running as well. With the 222's, I think they are ideal and very smooth. These, along with the Andrews 48 and CR 570-2, have a great balance of low end performance and carry to about 4,500 rpm.

Andrews 48, pick your air cleaner, and a Super Trapp with a quiet tune, 26 disks. I got 100 torque starting at 2000 rpm going to 109 T at 3400 rpm. Not bad for a stage 2. (92 hp)
