Default Choosing cams for TC 103

Hi,

I need some opinions. My current setup is: FXDF 2014 (TC 103), Arlen Ness Inverted Series air cleaner, V&H Pro-Pipe, Power vision (already bought TT and preparing pipes for wideband O2 sensors). I would like to have more low and mid range torque, so I am thinking about S&S 583GE cams (maybe S&S oil pump and cam support plate aswell). Not planning any headwork or compression change (bolt-in cams). Is it a good choice? Thanks.

That cam is more suited for 88 & 96 ci motors, my suggestion would be Andrews 48s or Cycle-Rama 570-2. Save your money as far as the oil pump & cam plate goes, there's nothing wrong with the stock pump & plate for just a simple cam swap. Just replace the inner cam bearings & lifters, S&S lifters would be a good choice.

I have installed the 583 cams in my 2016 heritage. I ride two up most of the time (385 pounds total). I also have the PV target tune. The bike has good low end torque. I really like cams. I very rarely ride over 3k rpms. I can feel the torque difference. I have also installed the S&S lifters (not the high dollar ones), Screamin eagle adjustable push rods, cam plate and oil pump. While I was in the engine I also changed the inner cam bearings.

Short and sweet,
I've been researching this for MONTHS.
I keep coming back to that CR 570-2 cam.
it puts down some pretty impressive numbers.

For my own questions.
Does anyone know if this cam would work with head work ( Hillside) and a .30 head gasket?
and this cam is not offered in gear drive, is this a big deal?

I forgot to mention that I will change lifters to S&S Premium. Also S&S adjustable quickee pushrods and of course inner cam bearings. My crankshaft runout is in specs so I am thinking about gear drive. Andrews and Cycle-Rama does not offer gear drive cams. So S&S oil pump and cam support plate is waste of money?

Verry happy with the Andrews 48 in my 103. Great low/mid power.

There are a lot of good cams to choose from, but since it sounds like you're wanting to stick with all S&S parts, the 583 is a good choice for a stock motor. Personally, I'd lean toward chain drive cams in this application, but there's nothing wrong with gears if you're sure your crank is within spec.

We've used that cam in both 98", and 103" engines, with good results.

I'm very happy with the Andrews 57H. I paired them w/ S&S Premium lifters, S&S adjustable quickee pushrods, and S&S cam plate / oil pump. The bike already had SE Heavy Breather, D&D Fat Cat (w louvered baffles), and PV Target Tune.

Hey Scott, my 103 TC had 510g cams installed. Looking at the S&S website it seems that 551 or 570 would have been more appropriate? How much of a difference would there be? I don't ride like a bat outta hell & the 510's dont kick in till over 3000rpm, correct? 551's say idle-4000rpm?
thanks!!
