Lowered rear question
 

Just got a 12 street bob and it has burley slammers on it. Ride height it great but with me and the lady on there its hurting for a day or 2 after. What are my options for a lowered rear end, that will eat up as much shock as possible? At 5'7 the lowered ass is much appreciated. Thank you guys!

So this is my first Dyna, coming off years of sportsters. Are Progressive shocks still the go to for Dynas as well?

The lower you go the less shock travel you have, and with a shorter shock you will have a harsher ride, especially when the shocks bottom out. Progressives are better than the stockers but it depends on which series. If you want to make a real improvement look into Ohlins. Call Howard at Motorcycle Metal and he can give you some recommendations for custom shocks based on your riding style and needs.

Lol the thing with a forum like this is everybody has a guy or two, and hes obviously the best.

Dont go lower if youre ridin two up, or dont lower the bike if you want handling performance and comfort. Everything over stock is my choice. I have 13.5 now, and thinking of going up to 14" in the future.

I dont think you will have a problem with your 5'7 on the 13,5". Maybe 13" is perfect. Them lower shocks dont have enough travel to have any performance and comfort gains.

Also, do mids controls if you dont have it already. Its much easier to distribute the weight and not have your behind take all your load.

I've got 11.5" Progressive 444s on my 2014. I use it for 2-up and they go alright. I have the heavy duty versions.

Running 11" ProAction shocks made for my weight on my 2010.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to this. Yeah the slammers on it are breaking my butt for sure. Im sure I could handle up to a 13. Any ideas on brand/model? Love the idea of the Progressive 412s because they are cheap. But that could also be the jew in me!

Progressive 412s will only be better than those if you add a couple inches of length to them and not even $300 better. Save up some more or keep an eye out on the dyna parts section and EBay for some good used shocks that are 12" or more. Progressive 444s, Ohlins, etc

I had 12" progressive 440's on my Dyna. My back was so screwed up I thought I was gonna have to quit riding. A buddy gave me some 13 1/2" FXDX shocks. WOW, what a difference. That was 8 yrs ago.
Then more recently I took some 12" Fox shocks off my fxr4 because the ride was too harsh, then put on some 13 1/2" Progressive 412's. Again big difference. Much better ride on the rough roads 'round here.
