Default Check engine light...

Ok i have an 03 fxdxt... so i was riding in the country going about 20mph, i went into a turn and hit gravel. went of the road and laid the bike down in soft dirt... no damage except some scratches on the fairing and exhaust, plus broke my right turn signal...
got it back on the road, started right up, no leaks and honestly the shifting feels better hah... i decided to take the turn signals off, just unwired them, put electric tape on the connections and zip tied them back... i turned the bike on and both indicators flashed a few times then stopped... next i notice at about 25 mph the check engine light turns on and stays on why accelerating, but turns of if i slow down... any ideas??

I can't remember if this stuff changed in '02 or '03, but if you have a Cam Position Sensor and/or a Crank Position Sensor, check that neither the sensors nor the wiring was affected when the bike went down. I'm pretty sure both of these sensors can trigger the engine light. the crank sensor is on the left front of the engine, almost under the filter, and the cam sensor is under the timing cover over the cam chest. On my 2000, the wiring for both of these sensors runs runs inside of one sleeve under the right side of the engine, and up under the seat. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what else triggers that light.

Excellent idea. It's super easy without the special jumper tool... I was able to slightly crimp a female spade connector, and it fit perfectly as a jumper across the proper two terminals.

There is a reset for the TSSM, in this module is a lean/bank sensor, that trips when the bike goes over, my 02 FXD has one. I think it's turn ignition on and cycle off/run switch three times. Imight be wrong, but worth a try.

That's a keeper. Just copied that into a .txt file and saved into my Dyna folder!

Not sure if you have LED's but I do on my 05, and when got Quick 4 Way Flashing on Start Up my Load Equalizer for the LED Lighting needed replacing .. Even if this does not apply to you, might be worthwhile just to add to this post anyway ..
