Default Rocker box and cam cover

The rocker box cover and the cam cover are not as chromed out as my exhaust or my air cleaner cover. What material is the rocker box and cam cover ? Sorry if they may seem like a dumb question but every search I’ve done it all looks the same to me

Yup. Although, chrome and various powder coat options are available.

but it takes a lot of work, especially if they are pitted in any way...just get chrome ones...I did all of my covers in chrome and was able to do it all for under $300.

When I had the shop do the big bore and cams I did have those covers replaced. Black 02 FXD and the chrome pieces set off the engine quite nicely. Polishing the cases does require some time and elbow grease but that's what rainy days are for, just suggesting a more economical way.

You can leave them on the bike and polish with Wizards Polish Cloth … little effort, and the more times you polish and buff the brighter they will get … just follow the instructions on the Wizards tin

Yeah, you can polish the aluminum... every 4-6 months. Just get the chrome bits. I did this for a friend's son couple years ago, for his '03 FXD.. looked good. Did the whole engine, upper/lower rocker boxes, cam cover, primary, battery cover, clutch cover....

Basic raw aluminum. Many people have chrome take offs around as blacked out everything is the trend. I prefer the look of chrome rocker boxes
