Default Keyless Street Bob

So I decided to put in a toggle ignition. I've read about the sportster guys doing it and a few years back guys were relocating their ignition to the dash on the tank. I think the newer Street Bobs came stock with the ignition on the dash now. The switch is a 40amp ignition toggle switch from amazon with 12 gauge copper stranded wire.
Heres the schematic showing where the switch goes.

You access the harness in the usual place. The solid red is what you cut and solder in 12 gauge wire to your switch. I ran the wire assembly up and out the right side neck and to the left side headlight tin and mounted the switch in the spot light switch hole ( I have a FL front end on my street bob)

So I filed the nub on my barrel key and now I'm able to place the original ignition switch in "Ignition" and pull the key out and run the ignition from the toggle as long as I keep the FOB with me.

I wonder if you could have wired in a touring ignition that does not require a key. My key only locks the ignition as you likely know and I never use my key. Just turn the ignition on with the fob in my pocket and start it.

After moving to my Road Glide I learned that the bike with an alarm system could be programmed to not need the ignition switch at all. As long as I have the FOB, I can walk up to the bike, hit the run switch and everything powers up like if I have turn the ignition, then I just need to hit the start switch. Makes me wonder if this was an option that could have been programmed into my old Street Bob too since it also had the alarm system. Might want to talk to your dealer to see if this is an option you can do, then you can avoid cutting your wires up. Just ask them if using a program like that which is used on CVO's to deactivate the need for the ignition is possible, they might need to do some research. I have seen Sportsters with this option, so I don't see why it wouldn't be an option on the Dyna.

I installed the factory alarm to my 15 FXDB and was out for a ride on the east side of Atlanta. I stopped at the dealership in the area and ask about a code light on the speedometer. It turned that another dealership had flashed the wrong program when marrying the alarm to the ECM and I had no brake lights. Anyway when the tech asked for the key I handed him the FOB. He asked for the key and tried to turn the switch. I said just crank it and he asked for the key again. So I could not believe the Harley tech didn't know you could leave the switch locked and just use the FOB?

Ask your dealer about programming your ride to be activated via the fob sensor, then you don’t need the key and your ignition would inactive.

I asked them one time about installing the newer system as the newer low riders have a key less ignition but the said it is not compatible. is there a way this can be done?
