That rubber seal can roll into the inside bore of the intake manifold and make it nearly impossible to push the carb in. Remove the seal and make sure it's not deformed or damaged. If it's OK, clean the rubber inside and out as well as the mating surface on the manifold. Reinstall the dry seal amd then spread a little motor oil on the inside lip. Then try again with a careful twisting motion. It should pop right in if nothing is wrong.

 

Ok … should have done this first … what carb are you installing, stock Harley or something else? … have you tried putting the rubber sleeve on the carb by itself to see how it fits the carb? … is the rubber sleeve OEM or aftermarket?

 

yes but before we go any further it was a harley at one time someone striped and rebuilt the hole thing I have tried that but let's make sure that I am doin gb it right that dry seal has a split on it flap if u will half outer of the seal goes on outside of carb in goes on inside let me know if this makes spice if this is correct then yes I have tried but it is real hard to get the intake to go perfectly on the slot if u will so it rolled the inner of the flap if u dont get it perfect

doesnt it go into place on outside it's a seal and on the inside where it meets the intake isn't their a slot for it to fit into on the intake hard to exsplane if u look at pic below it should make alot of sence what I'm saying. But I will have to pop it off and clean it like u said

The intake manifold has a thinner machined area where the seal goes. Part of the seal is inside and part is outside.
