Inner shaft seal?

How often does this three dollar POS go bad?
I had one replaced two to three years ago and looks like it is leaking again :(

tower gasket for your mid control shifter?

It is the little shaft cover behind the primary looks like a bearing from a skateboard wheel.

Is there an easier way to get to it besides removing the primary?

My 02 started leaking at about the 12K miles and just a couple of years old. The shop tried to bend safety wire around the seal to stop the leak, that tore up the seal further and they also mangled the shaft so bad the shaft/shifter pawl had to be replaced. Big bucks, primary comes apart for the seal and my trans. came out to replace the pawl. Lot's of denial from the dealership for this boondoogle. But good news is it hasn't leaked since. But I also don't fill the trans to the full mark

Nope. Inner primary bearing requires removal of the outer and inner primary covers. Don't forget new gaskets and the 5 new inner primary mounting bolts.

If your bike has more than a few miles on it... prime opportunity to replace your belt as well.

You're supposed to put new bolts there? Don't think mine were replaced?
I'll have to look
