Hi Jake - I'm happy to measure anything helpful... But I probably won't remove the original shocks until I have the front back together (hopefully not too much longer). Just let me know exactly what you need.

Not sure if it's helpful, but the stock lower bolt is 1/2-20 x 2-1/4 (grade 5)

For non-stock applications, actual required length will vary depending on spacers, washers, and shock eyelet width.

Howard sends the necessary spacers and bushings with his Ohlins kits so that the stock hardware can be re-used.

Yup, and I have a set of ARP shock hardware from AlloyBoltz waiting for the install...

Did they send you acorn nuts for the top studs?

They did me. I was hoping for something nicer. Those acorns bug me. At some point I'll probably covert to a bolt and custom spacer just so the upper and lower match.

Yup, same thing. Also not a big fan of the acorns.

As in my related brake thread, I've been weighing things as I go, when I think of it. Here's an original OEM FXDX rear shock against a new Ohlins blackline piggyback 764:

Result: The Ohlins unit is 1 pound, 4.1 ounces lighter (each). Cool!

When I weighed mine I was quite surprised how much weight was shed with the switch to the Ohlins. Added bonus (in my case anyway) was the reduction in unspring weight due to the correct orientation of the shock body. (The stock shock body was down (!?).

Same with mine! The OEM shocks were designed "upside down!"

I uses 1/2-13 18-8 Stainless socket head cap screws to hold the shocks on.. Got rid of the fancy HD spacer simply used a nut on the inside of the frame. Made a small SS spacer to get the shocks to line up..

Great thread, lots of good info. I'm starting the same project on my 07 fxdb today. Got new springs for Christmas (Progressive Heavy Duty) and have a fork seal starting to leak so figure I should probably powder coat my lowers while it's all apart.
