Default Big Al's Pelican saddlebags

Finally get these Big Al's Pelican saddlebags installed, and happy to confirm they look awesome and they are higher capacity than the crappy Viking bags.

Big Al's = 1,100 cubic inches each (2,200 total)
Viking = 762.5 cubic inches each (1,525 total)

I’ve been using pelican bags for a long time. They are incredibly durable, and endlessly configurable. Your install looks really well done, and being able to just grab and go vs unpacking saddlebags would be awesome, but I just don’t know how I feel about pelican bags as saddle bags, just doesn’t look right to me. Maybe it’s because pelican bags remind me too much of work lol. Or maybe I just need to embrace my inner Dyna bro.

I really like this setup. The only thing thats grinds my eyes is the lining of the steel cage... why are they so random? :P Maybe I would manufactur a set in the future!

Not a big fan of having a tool box looking thing on either side of my bike personally. To each their own. As long as you're happy with them

Like them or not those bags look bad *** - they definitely have the attitude they’ll go the distance.
Good job- thanks for posting

How do the bags detach from the rails?

Is it a quick detach type setup or a bolt and nut type setup?

The bags bolt to the cages and the cages bolt to the struts. When I had mine, I made the bags QD by getting a detent pin for one end of the bag and a lock for the other end so I could at least remove the bags. I have since switched to a different setup that offers more than twice the storage and the whole thing is QD.

Default Frames are permanently bolted on, bags slide out

The frames bolt on permanently. The Pelican cases slide in and out of their frames. The Pelicans attach to their frames using two bolts, front and rear, but those can replaced with long neck locks if I ever plan to slide them out.. Their frames bolt directly to the fender arms.

I went to Lowe's and found smallish black wether proof Master lock sets that share a key. So the lid locks match. I don't plan to detach the saddlebags when I travel.

I removed the labels that are on the sides, now they are all black. The capacity is awesome, and I get a lot of compliments.

I think they look cool, they are certainly extremely practical. I lost an iPad due to water damage on my relocation trip. I won't have to worry about that anymore.

PS they dropped the price by $100 last week, not sure if it is a special.
