Upgrading to Ohlins suspension
#12
The Two different Oil Locks (Cartridge vs. Damper Rods) have a slightly different OD (and ID variations).
So you either acquire and machine the OD of another Damper Tube Oil Lock OR alter the ID of the OE Cartridge Oil Lock ... That is if you want to continue to use the One OE Cartridge style Fork Tube with the NIX22s
But it would easiest to work with the one you already have (OE Cartridge Oil Lock)
BTW, the New Damper Bolt needed would be 14mm (.551"), so a 9/16" (.5625") would be a closer hole size

Thanks for the info everyone, I'm just trying to sort things out in my head before I start buying stuff. I don't have anything apart yet so some of the terminology is over my head. So, instead of using the cartridge side oil lock that comes with the Ohlins kit, I want to take the OEM part #28 on the picture below to a machine shop and have the inside bored out to 9/16, so that bolt #29 (a new 14mm bolt according to Multi) can thread into the cartridge at the top of the picture? Would the bolt hole at the bottom of the slider need to be machined as well for the different bolt?

Correct ... Legends is apparently Smarter than Ohlins and include the "Special" Oil Lock (I sure hope it's special because it's a different OD than the STD Oil Lock) and "Top-Out" Springs (rebound springs), but you would need that STD Damper Screw you reference.
Ohlins doesn't include any Oil Locks or Top-Out Springs. They expect you to re-use... which you would (without modification) if you had the STD Set-up (No OE Cartridge). So you would need a Top-Out Spring, Modded Oil Lock, and Std Damper Screw
Same Slider is used regardless whether it's envelopes a Cartridge or Not ... Harley uses a "Stepped" Damper Screw for 49mm Cartridge applications
Don't base your decision on the Oil lock ONLY ... that's an easy remedy (I'll Mod one and send it to you if needed)

no need to purchase install tools, a length of 3/8 copper tubing and tap it to the threads on the rod and a piece of sheet metal slotted work fine.
