Default How to know if stock engine ?

Hola amigos !

I own a 2002 Dyna that had been bought used by my son many years ago. The max speed that I can reach
is 170 + km/h which is 106mph. I think it is normal for a stock 88 cu in but.not totally sure since I have no mean of knowing if it s been modded to a certain degree. The pushrods seem stock so the cams must be stock too. Unless there is something that I miss
How can I know fore sure without opening the engine ?

Without taking the engine apart, measuring sizes, and checking part numbers there really isn't a way to know if the cylinders, heads, pistons, cams, lifters, valves, etc are stock except for maybe if the entire cylinder, head, transmission, or rockers had been changed to a different manufacturer. In those instances there is usually a manufacturer marking on the outside with the part number. Most people just modify the internal stock parts though.

Easy Jack. Just buy a new bike. This way, you know the bike's past.

Default Buy a new bike !

I can see in this forum that there are many issues with new bikes that HD just can t solve like ABS brakes and others. I prefer my 2002 dyna since I can fix it and rely on the work I ve done to it.
But I must admit bying a new one would be great..

Happy to be a member of Harley Krishna hey hey !!

I cant think of any real way to tell, BUT if the pushrods are stock it is very, very likely the motor is stock.

Default Stock motor

That's what I think 'cause to replace the cams the pushrods have to be cut.(and replaced by adjustable ones). Unless one is replacing the cams by identical because old ones are worn out.....
I'd really like to do that kinda job in my motor...
Just to get tjat extra "WOW" power..
Maybe next season. I want to enjoy each and every day with a bike that works, this summer. They are f....too short here. Today was 60 degrees brrr. I counted that a good summer has 20 days of sunny- t-shirt riding days in Montreal. Real ****. Does anybody here have an apt to rent down in California?
Hey hey hey ! Gee I m thinking: it s not possible live in a all year round forest fire !!!! Where am I gonna move to?

Default Texas

Stevie Ray Vaughan's state.
Blues music state.
Motorcycle state.
Tornadoes state as well !

Did you ever wake up and look at your motorbike hooked up in a tree ?
Or on your garage roof, upside down ?

20 days of full sun here in Montreal. Every year.
