Default 99 FXDWG - Hand control connector location?

I’m putting 16” ape hangers on my 99 Wide Glide. With the tank off, and staring at the backbone tunnel, I can’t find the stock hand control wiring connectors to splice in the extensions. The 99 shop manual says they are located in the backbone, but no exact location is provided. The Burly instructions say they should be near the neck, but i’ll be damned if I see ‘em. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Cowboy

Pull both ruber plugs out of the backbone. You will need to pull the wires toward the front of the bike. The connectors will come out.

Take the plastic cover off the bottom of the neck on the backbone. They are in that cavity it is covering.

On the 99 Dyna the wires are ran inside the backbone.

There’s one plug on the right side of the backbone, right at the neck. Nothing on the bottom. I stuck a mirror into that hole that the plug covered and don’t see any connectors for at least a few inches.

They are in there, you need to pull on the harness until the connectors come out. Another process completely to get them back in the backbone. Good luck

Default More info found

I did a second search for more info on this and found another thread that mentions that on 99-01 era Dynas the main harness is bunched up in a loop under the seat which takes out the slack. The suggestion is to remove the back wheel and fender for easy access, loosen that loop, and then you’ll have slack to pull those connectors out from the neck. Then pull them back in from the rear.

An an amazing piece of design....easy to work on...

thanks to everyone for all the help, and sorry for reposting something that’s been covered.

Back to it!
cheers
