Has anyone had any luck using the rubber adapters on a dyna so that you could use a jack?
I have a 2016 FXDB and aHarbor Freight yellow jack. Whenever I try to use the jack with the adapters in place, I seem to lose confidence in their ability to work.
Any tips on how to jack up a Dyna? |
Don't know what a Harbor Freight yellow jack is... Automotive floor or some type of MC?

I believe it's similar to the red sears jack

I use the way-overpriced HD orange and black rubber and plastic adapter things. Not with a HF jack specifically, but with something similar-enough.
Honestly, they are a pain to fit, and to line up with the jack, and to keep in place while jacking the bike up. Once the bike is airborne, they are reasonably sturdy, but don't exactly scream 'security'. Every time I use them I swear I'm going to alter the jack (probably with wooden blacks screwed in place at a minimum), or just bite the bullet and get a J&S (which is better in every way possible). But, somehow, I never get around to it! . |
I tried the 'blocks' but never could get them to work or stay in place ! There is a 'Sears red jack' modification out there that is shown on YouTube and looked pretty good....again didn't help me until I started running the front wheel up on a 2x4 ! It's the sump protector that makes the job such a pain.

I used hockey pucks when I had my dyna, they worked pretty well. However, I also tied down the bike to the jack using the tie down loops provided on the jack.

I "shim" the frame rails with a couple old college algebra books. (Hey, am I the very first person to find a use for advanced college algebra?) LOL.
I also use a short Ancra ratcheting tie down on the right front frame rail to eliminate "teetering." |

I have this one from Harbor Freight. The adapter set works perfect with my 05 super glide. |

I got a used Black Jack bike lift and I use the Harley blocks every time.
Once its up I strap the bike to the jack with some ratchet straps. The jack has a stop that fits in a notch so once its up if it settles it can only come to the stop. I have it up right now upgrading the forks. Steady and will stay that way overnight no problem. Just got to remember to pop those things off there when yer done. I can testify they will stay on the bike for at least a few miles:D |
