Default Rear tire size

I recently acquired a 2013 Dyna Switchback with about 8000 miles. Just about ready for a new rear tire. The tire on now is a Dunlop D401 160/70B17.
Any reason you guys know of not to go a bit narrower. Like 150. Not going to switch rims. Wide rear tires cost more and I know of no advantage. I don't think they last longer.
Thanks for your advice.

Stick with the stock tire size. It just makes life easier. If you want a tire that lasts, you might want a Michelin Commander

Just buy 2nd hand tyres ,by that I mean new dealer takeoffs. Seems to be plenty of ppl with more money than me replacing their brand new tyres at the dealership. I've got brand spanking new fat Bob tyres for 200pr

This, plus going to a narrower tyre may mean it doesn't match your rim width and agreed on a Michelin Commander for grip as well as excellent millage.

I believe the rear is a 160 how much smaller do you really want to go....stock 160 are pretty cheap anyway....you have a great bike, why **** with it by changing tire size? If your cheaping out on tires go ride a dirt bike....tires are your life line to the road, spend the money on good ones...

Another Vote for Michelin Commander or Pirelli Night Dragons if will fit .. Either One far outshines the Dunlop 401 ..

My experience has been that a slightly wider tire will last more miles. I've tried a narrower tire on the front, and it wore quickly.

The stock Dunlops are pieces of crap. The only D4XX series tire I really liked was the D407.. I could get ~14k out of it on the rear. But it just got stupid expensive.

I'm currently running Dunlop American Elites, and I like them a lot. 180/65/16 rear and 130/90/16 (MT90) front (not dyna stock)

First person I've ever seen ask for skinnier tires, and I'm over here wondering if I can shove a 180 under my rear fender next replacement lol
