Forward Controls for 2007 FXDC Super Glide

I would like to install the Forward Controls Kit (P/N: 49080-06A) on my 2007 FXDC Super Glide Custom. Does this kit come with good instructions? I see there are lots of little pieces in the kit - do I need any special tools? From 20 years of working on cars I have good mechanical skills and lots of tools,but I'm not experienced in working on motorycycles.

Can anyone offer any specific advice or tech tips?

I installed them this weekend.There are 3 schools of thought here. # 1 you must remove the inner and outer primary to remove old shifting spline.( as per instructions).pain in the a$$. # 2 While bike is on a lift tape off two sections of the spline from behind the primary, cut spline with a hack saw & pull spline through the front of primary. # 3 leave spline in cap with kuryakyn spline cap ($8.99), just in case you ever want to go back to mids.I went with # 3. if you do a search Skullguy has a nice pic of a bracket he made to keep the original shifting arm out of the way.
