Default 2009 Dyna safety recall info

December 01, 2008

To: All Dealers

Subject: Safety Recall Campaign 0136

Dear Dealer:

Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Inc. has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety may exist on certain 2009 model year FXDB, FXDC, FXDF, FXDL model motorcycles, built July 22, 2008 through July 25, 2008. These 2009 model motorcycles have a fuel tank vent tube assembly, P/N 27389-04A, which may have been produced at the supplier with a questionable ultrasonic weld on the anti-slosh valve. If the valve separates and the bike is tipped over, it may leak fuel. This condition could lead to a fire, which could cause injury or death to the rider.

We have voluntarily declared this a defect related to motor vehicle safety (Campaign 0136) to allow us to formally recall all affected motorcycles. The remedy is to remove the original vent tube assembly and replace it with a new vent tube assembly provided in our recall kit part number 94719. A service bulletin outlining the repair and credit procedure will follow within two weeks. Based on the schedule our supplier has provided we expect to begin shipping repair kits to service the entire population world-wide in one wave, on or before the week of December 8, 2008. Please reference the Service Bulletin for a detailed description of the defect.

Thanks for the info!

I've a friend that may be affected, and here in Spain HD is not used to send letters to owners with bulletins.

built July 22, 2008 through July 25, 2008
I don't think they were building '08s and certainly not '07s between those dates.

Thanks for the info, dawg. Where does one find any safety recalls and up-to-date service bulletins anyway?
