Got the girlfriend an 07 Dyna for her B-day with quick detactable windshield. At its lowest point on the fork, it is too high. It measures 18" from the headlight cutout to the top of the shield, which is the standard height. I hate to try and cut it down, H-D makes replacement Lexan, in I believe 15" and possibly 12" size, which will fit the framework. My question to those in the know, are there any aftermarket sources for a replacement? I looked at Clearview, they only have larger and the pickings at CeeBaileys are slim to none. Any and all help appreciated.
I cut mine down on my Road King myself with a Dremel tool, belt sander, sandpaper, and masking tapein about 30 minutes.
The top of mine is about even with the tip of my nose or upper lip while sitting in the riding position. No wind buffeting and am completely satisfied. If your interested in tackling it your self I can write the procedure I used upon request.
Or, you can take the one you have now to a local glass/plasticsshop and they will cut it down for you for about $20-$25.
One suggestion to determine the height you want, is to buy a roll of cheap pin-striping tape from Walmart, Auto Zone and etc. and placestrips spaced about 1/2 -1" apartacross the windshield. Take it for a ride to determine how much you want to cut off.
