Greetings-My 95 Dynaglide had very little vribration before a new cam bearing and mild cam was installed. The vribration is at 1800-2000 rpms ans goes through the whole bike. Luckily it goes away after 2000 rpms. The front motor mount looked bad so I changed it. Still vribrating. Could a different cam cause this? I'm not sure where the other motormounts are to check. Could use some help-Thanks!
1995 Dynaglide had very little vribration befor a mild cam and cam bearing was installed. The vibration happens at 1800-2000 rpms and luckily goes away. Changed front motor mount to no avail. Where are the other mounts located? Could a new cam cause this problem? Thanks...
Do you have the service manual for you bike? If so when you replaced the front mount did you "adjust" the others afterwards. The mounts (any of them) from what I am to understand when replaced or adjusted have to be (re)adjusted (all of them) in a sequence of sorts. Do a search on mount vibration or some such. I just read some interesting info on vibration (and the dampening there of by motor mount adjustment. Evos may be a little different than twin cams I aint sure, but its a good thing to have that service manual.
Good luck.
I'll bump you to the top in the event that there is someone else here who may know more.
I installed an Andrews EV27 (bolt-in) in my friends 1998 Wide Glide and had to add a shim to the inside of the shaft. The stock cam did not require a shim. I had to go down to a shop and dig through a pile of shims to find the right size. If I remember right, the endplay without the shim was around .050". That's a lot of play. I think I found a shim to get it under .010". If you didn't shim it right, then it might be rattling around in there and causing a vibe. Maybe, maybe not.
