2016 FXDB or New?

Hello everyone,

Apologies if this isn't supposed to be here and if so please point me in the right direction.

I'm currently looking at a 2016 FXDB with close to 8k miles on it.

It has some aftermarket parts and is at the Harley dealer here. I'm wondering if this would be a decent platform to build off of with the bike coming in at $12k.

I've been looking at the new Low Rider S and Sport Chief from Indian, but figured I'd see if this bike would be a better option to get and build it up as I was going to do the same with the newer bikes (stage kit, etc).

This would be my first cruiser bike as I have only ridden sport bikes in the past.

Thank you!

Second last year of twin shock Dyna. I really like their looks; have had 3 Dynas since '01.
TC motor easy to hop-up. (Also done 3 times)
Downside: May not be much factory support now that M8 is here. Strong aftermarket
My quickest Dyna was a 103" FXDXT with virtually ALL the trimmings...

Current bike is a 103" FXDF

Thank you for the info and input!

I also like the look as well and the parts portion is helpful as well.

I have a '17 FXDB and it's probably the finest Harley I've owned; it's been nothing but reliable and a joy to ride. OEM parts are starting to go obsolete it's true, but it's trim pieces, etc. nothing that's going to prevent the bike from running. Aftermarket is super strong, and I don't expect that to change for a long, long time. I like the new M8 bikes, and may get one in a year or so, but my Twin-Cam is a forever bike. Oh, and personally, I would stay away from "Indian". If you really want a snowmobile, don't buy one with tires.

And as far as being a good starting platform, the answer is 100% yes, just take a glance at mine.

Very nice bike! Thanks for the input and info.

Is the FXBBS you have not an M8?

It is, but it's my wife's bike. I've ridden it a handful of times and it's fast AF, but the ergonomics are all off for me. It is a beautiful bike though and it's amazing how far the MoCo has come in fit and finish, quality and design. There's just something about it that's missing, maybe it's too refined??? The Twin-Cam Dyna feels visceral by comparison. Of course, it is cammed with a Thunderheader so there's that.

Gotcha, yeah I think since I want to modify the bike and change parts out and such I don't mind that might not have the best fit and finish just as long it's a supported and reliable platform.

You don't have to worry about aftermarket quality, as long as you're not buying off eBay or some other non-reputable site. Go to fuelmoto, speedkings, speedmerchant, imzz, bungking, rustybutcher, bamco, halespeed, thrashin, saddleman, advanblack, denniskirk, jpcycles, dk, feuling, throttleaddiction, just to litterally name a few.

I don't know what it's worth but get something, put some cams in it and make it fast as greased lightning and ride around like a screaming maniac, that's what it's all about :D :icon_bike: :icon_beerchug:

I like the old Dyna bikes, and the 2016 would be my choice.... just not at 12K.... At $12K, it would have to be $3000 above "average" condition...

Year: 2016
Make: Harley-Davidson
Model: FXDB103 Dyna Street Bob
Model Type: Cruiser
Displacement: 1690
Cylinders: 2
VIN: G
Finance Advance: $7,980
MSRP: $13,699
Avg Retail: $8,750
Auction Wholesale $7,335
Clean Trade: $7,145
Fair Trade: $6,575

If they were willing to sell it at a reasonable price, I'd be all over it.....

But I am partial to a nice 2016 Dyna... :icon_goofygrin:
