Just did a big bore kit with the twintec ignition. While riding my Speedo will randomly completely shut off, or drop, and sometimes be fine. When odometer shuts off as well. Engine light will start blinking when the speedo drops or cuts out. Checked battery and voltage was good, also put volt meter on battery while running and revving up. Stayed under 15 volts so Im assuming regulator is fine? Possibly stator problem? Engine runs fine ever when speedo messes up. Any advice?
Since it happened just after you added the big bore kit, I'd be suspect of any wiring/connectors you removed & replaced during the big bore install....
It shouldn't take but 15 minutes or so to remove the tank console and check the connector to the speedometer... Check to make sure it's tight, but I would also take it apart and inspect the pins themselves. They can sometimes get bent during reassembly, causing intermittent issues. Also make sure they are clean and not corroded.
What was the code the DTT was flashing.. If it was over voltage, replace the regulator. I had the same issue. Bike smoked a LI battery. Check the voltage and it was 14.4. Installed a new AGM. Go for a 100 mile ride and get the over voltage from the DTT. I ended up driving the bike home with the alternator disconnected. Replaced the regulator.. No issues since.

2000 FXDX with about 70000 on it..
