Sounds Funny?

Hey all. First time poster here. I just took home a new 2007 Street Bob. I had the slash out screaming eagle bolt on mufflers put on. It really doesn't sound much like a Harley. My sportster with the Screaming Eagles actually sounds better. Pardon the ignorance but if I'm looking for it to sound deeper can I just unbolt the inside of the muffler out by the tip. After looking at my sportster there is still something bolted on the inside but it sounds good. Any thoughts would be appreciated. And sorry in advance for any terms I used that aren't proper, I'm still learning.

a few years back HD changed the SEII slipons. The old ones (probably similar to your sporty slipons) sound good. The new ones look the same as the old - but really don't change the sound over the stock pipes.

If you want the sound - you need to find an older set.

here is a cheap and easy way to get a bit more sound... take a flash light and look down the end of the muffler... you will see a small cup like item... just bend that out of the way... that is what i did on mine sounds much better...

They will get a little louder if your patient.. Did they do the Street legal download and did you do the A/C ? The New Street legal download with the A/C and the street legal muffs runs real good.. Along with the switch to Synthetic oil the bike runs much cooler....

I read the H-D parts catalog and noticed the small print after the SE mufflers that said something about "more power without the noise" or words to that effect. At that point I went to Khrome Werks slip-ons. Power I wasn't concerned with, a nice sound I was. H-D is trying to politically correct with their anti-noise garbage.

I think they're trying to stay in business, really. The Feds don't give a rodent's rear about the tenth of a percent of the voting public who rides motorcycles. They'd crush Harley without a second thought to "send a message to hoodlums with loud bikes."
