Dyna's Misunderstood
Was at a dealer open house Saturday and there were hundreds of bikes. It seems anyone with a Softail thinks Dynas are Sporters. Does anyone else run into this? I just find their ignorance annoying.

RE: Dyna's Misunderstood
I certainly can tell the difference between the Dynas and Sporsters, and I own a sloptail. But I really dont care whatother people think unless there paying for it. ;)

RE: Dyna's Misunderstood
First of all, as has been said by many here several times, I don't care what anyone else thinks.
With that said, I find it hard to believe that most Harley owners can't tell the difference between a sportie and a dyna. I know I, for one, couldn't tell an Electra Glide from a Gold Wing or a Sportster from a Shadow not so long ago. But, once I became a Harley owner, it didn't take long to know the differences and tell them all apart - and from a fairly good distance at that. They may say they can't tell or that they are the same as far as they are concerned. But, they know better. |

For sure. I have the 1450 big bore kit on my Sportie Low.

RE: Dyna's Misunderstood
Each is what it is and each is fine. I started on a Sportie in April and didn't know the difference either. I thought at the time a Sportie was a heavy motorcycle with a lot of power and a cool look and sound. I was right in all those regards. I also thought a bigger Harley would be "too heavy and bulky".
Well, having a better half that loves to ride on back and getting weary of having to sit on the tank of the Sporty sometimes I bought an 07 Super Glide. I love this thing dearly. More power, more comfy ride, so many "more"s. Plenty of passenger room and all. Did not give up much at all in handling or anything else. To me a Super is maybe the best of all. I know a Softie has invisible shocks. Other than that I still can't tell the "upgrade" Harleys apart. But please, don't tell anyone. Tom |
RE: Dyna's Misunderstood
The dyna do not have the B engine. What the dyna do have is more power.

RE: Dyna's Misunderstood
They're just:
1. Trying to get your goat and get a rise out of you all in good fun. 2. Ignorant of the difference and showing it. 3. Belittling your bike as being a lesser bike than a softtail. Fuhgeddaboudit! |
