Daytona twin tec ignition does have a "kick start" mode- it will fire on the first revolution. I have mine set there (starter kills battery really quickly, especially in cold weather). on the flip side of the argument- my bike has a nasty habit of "kicking back" on the starter and wiped the teeth off the ring gear of the clutch basket more than once. That kind of force could seriously f*#$ a persons leg/knee up. I solved that durability issue by swapping back to a 66 tooth ring gear and associated pinion, however, the reduced leverage caused by the taller ratio (66 vs 110 teeth) causes the battery to die quicker. I plan on adding a kicker to my dyna, but will likely de-tune the engine back to something remotely resembling streetable (dump the compression back down to the 9.5:1 to 10:1 range and cams with a little more duration to reduce cranking compression). I figure a slower bike that can be started without jumping it off will be alot easier to live with. If money permits- I may end up swapping the twin cam for a 96" evo.

Kicking over small engines was a workout at time. Which is why I have an electra glide.

Magnetos give a weaker spark at low RPM - stronger at higher RPMs = harder starting - better high speed performance

Second lose the magneto idea completely to many other issues with all the electronics on later machines will give you fits. Yes you can do a kicker but all the needed modifications, new parts and getting a good kit not the cheap *** $500 one will set you back about what the bikes worth.
