Hey you guys w/ HD's Street Slammer bars...

Call me crazy, but can't decide for sure whether or not I want to get rid of my stock '07 FXDC bars? The 1st mod I wanted to do this Spring was to get HD's Street Slammer bars with the 6" rise, but I'm just so damn comfortable on the things...or am I just so used to them by now...ahhh...I don't know???!!![sm=confused06.gif]I took my bike out for a nice December ride a couple days ago on a sunny 44* day & my hands just feel like they're in a perfect position on the stock bars. The HD Street Slammer bars just look so freekin' cool though & would look kick-azz on my bike-fitting in with it's "scheme" perfectly! Are all you guys that got the HD Street Slammer bars glad you made the switch? Let me know what you think...

FXDC Rider,

We seem to think alike. I had very similar mod plans for my fxdc as you do.
I dont have SS bars now, but they were to be my first mod or second, Right after the bullet Headlamp, which I see youhave as well. :) 6 months later and I am still going with the stockers both head lamp and bars. I think that at first I wanted something "different", and the SS do look cool. However to be honest I have grown to like the "classic" look of my bars as well as the snub nose on the bike. Call me crazy but I love the Stockers now.

Cheers and btw, the SS bars do look mean as hell !!!

Cheers,

Tom

FXDC Rider I went with the Wild 1's 501 with 8 inch rise. I like them, makes you feel like your more in the bike not on it. I just got my Corbin hollywood and lowered rear with 11 inch shocks. This is all on a 07 FDX. Hope that helps. Smiley

Hey rider...I have the same problem! I even have the SS in the box in the garage, but are just not sure yet if I want to change from the original bars. Let me know if you do the switch, and if you like how the SS feel.I know they will look good!

My dad has the HD SS bars on his '02 Wide Glide that I've ridden a couple times. I immediately felt as though I could handle the bike alot better (curving into turns, turning in sharper radius' at slower speeds...ect) with the SS's than with my stock bars. I think it might bebecause the feel of the SS bars brings back that comfort level you had as a kid ridin' a bmx bike as the shape & feel of the SS bars are somewhat a similar feel? Now I waspretty muchsold on the SS's when I rode my dad's bike...but that was a Wide Glide, not my bike? May have to ride his bike a few more times before I decide for sure? Tough Tough decision...

I have Street Slammers on my 06 Street Bob - and love them. (I had the stock bars on my 04 FXD)

If you decide to switch here are the details

Street Slammer Bar - #56391-04
Clutch Cable Black - Stock 06 FXDI #38765-06
Throttle/Idle Cables - Stock 06 FXDBI
Brake Lines - Diamond Back #46654-06
Clutch Cable Guide Kit - NOT NEEDED

Note: Street Slammer Bars will also fit with existing cables on FXDIs the HD book says NA due to the gauge mounting - mount the gauges some other way, and your FXDI cables will be fine.

I have the SS bars and love them. Best thing I did to my bike.
I do fell the bike handles way better with them on then the stock apes.

I have the Streetslammers. Came with the bike and I was going to do the mod if I bought a new one and it's not cheap. I'm only 5'4" and the only complaint is that I'm stretched out a bit more that I'd like. Especially when doing low speedtight turns. When I'm on the freeway or twisties they're great.

You know I like my bars but then I wasn't comfortable with the stock bars either. Didn't like the elevation of my arms or the angle of my wrists. Looks are important but do it within your ergonomic comfort zone. Youmay be happy with either and if so, go with what looks the best.

Some say you lose aggressiveness with mid controls vs. changing to forwards but I find that to be just the opposite in my case. Same thing for the bars as well. Being comfortable and feeling "in the bike" instead of "on the bike" gives you confidence when riding and you can be more aggressive.
