I just had some new Metzler's put on about 2oo miles ago. After riding on Sat. noticed that the front Axel nut was loose. I tightend per manual but now sitting here in cube world am questioning did the dealer forget to put the lockwasher on or forget to torque it.
"preventive maintenance" is checking all your fasteners on regular intervals.
Our bikes are known to loose nuts and bolts.
Use blue loctite when you can, and always check over the bike after a visit to service.
Learned my leason this past summer about letting idiots wrench on my bike. Let the local Suzuki dealer re and re my front wheel as I was buying the tire from them, ( only bike shop in town )! I had done the rear myself a couple of weeks prior without any problems. Go to pick up the bike and they have screwed up everything, and I meen EVERYTHING!
Never kept track of which wheel spacer goes on each side, put them on backwards causing the rotor to grind against the caliper housing. Overtorqued the axle. Overtorqued the cap that supports the right side of the axle, with about three times the gap on one side as the other, with no locktight on the bolts [:@]!
From that day on, I'm the only idiot that turns a wrench on my WG.
reminds me of a time bout 10 yrs ago had new rubber mounted get not even 5 blocks from this one dealer could hear a rattle pull bike over. rev it up could hear it loud and plain then look down here they have the pinch bolt in for front axle but no nut. rode back to shop pointed it out.acted stupidly trying to tell me he knew he trqed it.yeah i went dwn the rd and pulled the nut off grrr
