I have a friend who just bought a Screaming Eagle '07 dyna. He's been riding a Fatboy for some time and misses the floor boards. He was wondering if there is an alternative to the rider's pegs? Have any of you placed floor boards or done anything different? Thanks. I'll pass your ideas along.
Tough to get floorboards to work, at least on my low rider. Brake side was OK, but would have to modify shifter peg cuz I can't get my toe under it. Going to keep using the Iso pegs with heel rests. Work great & don't mess up the look of the bike.
Selling the minifloorboards, used, but in great condition: $25.00 + shipping. Will be posting these in the classifieds this week end after I take some pix.
I used Cycle Vision 2" Go-Forward extensions for Softail to mount Fatboy floorboards on my '05 Super Glide. You have to drill and countersink a hole to mount the bracket on a Dyna. Then, you have to decide how to go on the brake.Originally, I went with theDynabrake and bent abrake rod to fit with the floorboard set up; but, recently converted over to Softailbrake setup. I bought stainless braided brake line using 34" and 14" sections with aT-fitting to hook up the brake light switch fastened to the original brake cylinder mount. I've been really pleased withthe results! Good luck!
the dyna (defender or police) floorboard kit is a very good option. although the standard and chrome version of the dyna floorboard kit is obsolete, you can find them listed occassionally on ebay. however, you can order all the individual parts from harley if you have the numbers and they are all available. i did last fall for my wife's fxdl. they discontinued the complete kit in 04, but are required to continue to make the parts available for 10-15 years approx for legal reasons on any discontinued model (the dyna defender police bike). cost of new parts is around 700 for all the parts through a 20% discount harley dealership, but many of the parts are simply bolts and washers, etc. i bought a new kit still in the box a couple of months ago for just a couple hundred - just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
the mounting brackets fit the newer model dynas alsowith the only exception apparently being the shifter pedal bracket that bolts to the front two bolts on the primary. those bolt holes and placements have been changed i understand on the newer models, so some modification is needed there.
i was fortunate to have a fellow forum member email me a complete list of the parts necessary in the kit. he even sent a copy of the mounting instructions. that same instruction sheet and list of components was in the new kit i bought. if you want the chrome version, the only difference was the heel / toe shifter pedal was chrome and that part is available, although any shifter pedal will work if it matches the splines. all the other components were the same. you can pick up all the bolts, etc at a local hardware store, even can find some like my local hardware store that have them in chrome!
how's about posting the part #'s and instructions you mentioned. Thanks.
