I changed all my fluids and the first time I started it after it was sitting all winter when I shifted into 1st it made a load pop, but it went into gear. I could shift through all gears and back down to 1st without any nosies. I have not rode it yet due to my concern to that there is something wrong. Has anyone had this issue before? Am I over reactting or do I need to get it checked out?
Hmmm. Normal 1st gear clunk, or louder? Don't know if a looser than normal primary chain would cause this. That's nothing winter storage would cause, but just a thought...
Is the noise consistent, or did it do it just the first time?
consistently! It seems to be only when I shift into "N" then into 1st. Is you don't frimly press the shift lever it will go out of N but not completely into 1st, but onceyou try to go it won't let you shift into 1st.
I hope so! This is my first bike, first self service, and first winter. Is there anything that I can doto help with this? Also, when starting it when in gearthe bikewants to pullforward.Do I need to adjust the clutch?
My Bob did that a lot at 1st, kinda freaked me out. After doing some research in the oil section, I changed tran fluid to spectro platinum 6 speed for HD, and syn B & M trick shift for primary, things got real quiet down there after about 2 days.
After Sitting for a while the fluid drains off the clutch pak, and if you start it in gear they will stick and leap forward a little ( Also Normal ) Start in Neutralor SYN will help a little ...Start in Neutral...
