Water and a soft cloth.
A wet paper towel works great for dried on bugs,
just lay it on the windshield for bit.
Many years of cleaning them never had any problems.

Standard Glass cleaner will eventually fog the Lexan Plexus is great but priceyReal good method for bugs is soak a towel in water lay over the shield (in the shade) let sit for about 10 min and bugs will soften up

One of the most popular HD Dealers in the St Louis area carries stuff called "Rejex."
This stuff was first developed for aircraft and now is being introduced to the auto/motorcycle industry. It goes on like wax and comes off leaving a great shine. Their saying, "Nothing sticks but the shine." I used this on my previous bike (just got the new one) before a road trip to N. Carolina. When I arrived in N. Carolina from St. Louis, I did not have a SINGLE bug on my windshield, and the fork legs, tank, front exhaust header pipe were also clear of bugs! I was convinced!!! Check this stuff out.
