Default RE: Yet another Fuelpak question

I have a 2006 Stret Bob with V&H BSS,and a Big sucker. I installed the fuel-pac, It runs ok, but its not perfect. I get some popping on decel. Customer service tried to help me tune the bike over the phone. I would ride the bike and than tell him what it was doing and he would give me a code to change. We did this a bunch of times, but it still is not running that great. I talked to Dr.Dyno, he suggested getting the Power-Commander and he could tune it perfect with his Dyno. Soon as i get some x-tra cash.... I will let you guys here know how it all worked out.

From my experience with technical support from V&H, they're actually pretty good about doing it with you while they wait.

I had a TFI which is similiar to a fuelpak. Had a lot of popping on decel. I run with V&H Big Radius and a S/E ac. The fuekpak and the TFI only adjust the air to fuel ratio I traded out my TFI for a PC111 which will adjust the timing as well...runs great!
Timing is everything, right?

Just curious, how easy is it to get a V&H tech on the phone and do they want you next to the bike, ready to try any changes, while they have you on the line.

Thanks
I have never needed to call them after installing my fuelpak but I did call before buying it. Talked to someone right away and they were very helpful in answering my questions. While they don't release what the modes and codes do, I hear they will work with you on custom changes to try and get your bike running better. I don't think you have to be right by the bike because you'd physically have to ride it to know if the changes work anyway. They will most likely give you a couple of changes to make and try out and then you can call back if you still have issues. I think the further you stray from what they consider a typical stage 1 (high flow a/c such as SE, Ness, K&N, Kury Hyper and any V&H pipe or slipon) the less success you may have. For example, if you don't run their pipes, even though they do support some other pipes and slipons, or if you have some odd air cleaner, then you may need some tweaking.

That's just my take on it. I know some just dismiss it as a piece of crap out of hand and that's fine. I would probably be just as frustrated with it if I had no luck with it either. But it does work great for some of us. I have no backfiring and only get a light pop if I'm really trying hard to make it do it. My throttle response is awesome and I can tell a difference across the entire power band.

I appreciate all the replies. Lots of valuable advice on this forum. Also, thanks out to stbobber for the info on the PCIII being able to adjust the timing as well. I didn't realize it was capable of that.
