Default Crooked Superglide

I have an 06 Superglide. Since I took delivery of the bike, I have taken it several times to the dealer to straighten the forks/handlebars. The warranty is running out and we still don't have a resolution. When riding down the road, the forks and handlebarsappear to beturned slightly right while the front wheel is going straight. They have adjusted the riser/tripletree and have checked the handlebars for straightness. It appears they don't know what else to do. Does anyone have experience with this problem or any idea what might be wrong?

Thanks,

Ted

Hard to say but then again I am not a Genuine Certified HD mechanic. I would start by changing those parts out instead of just checking and adjusting them.

Did they check your frame/neck?

Did you buy the bike new in 06, from the same dealer?

2 FN years and they cant get it right?

have you tried a different dealship?

Have you called HD customer service?

Have they tried to swap the riser and bushings from one side to the other. They really should be thinking about changing part and plumbing the frame to make sure it is not out of specs.

I do not believe they checked the frame/neck.
I bought it new in 06 from a dealer in another state.
I have not tried a different dealer.
The bike is at the shop now. I guess I will try Harley customer service if the dealer comes back with a dead end.

I believe they replaced the bushings but don't know about swapping sides.

Reason I asked about swapping sides is a friend had some screwed up risers that was causing his bars to be crooked. One was not centered correctly. When they swapped sides the bars were now turning the other direction.

Is the rear wheel properly aligned? Look in the tech forum. There is a post about checking it. You can do this and not rely on the dealership.

The rear wheel is aligned.

I have searched this site and found numerous topics with dozens of posts from folks that have had this problem. The fixes seem to range from loosening and re-aligning to defectivive risers to poly bushings. What seems to the most prevalent is nothing worked.

I posted this hoping that someone had come across a magic bullet recently. I am still hoping.

Had a similar problem on mine (and very common whenever risers/bars are swapped out and especially noticeable with mini apes or larger), and i tried everything from switching bushings, risers, etc. Then an indy shop suggested a fix that worked slick and very quick & easy with some minor contortion - keep riser bolts tight and loosen slightly (!) the top clamp bolts and then with the forks all the way over to the stop, grab the bars and yank them to the correct position, hold them in place with your shoulder and tighten riser clamp bolts alternating side to side! Helps to have an extra hand but doable alone. Good luck!

Almost 2 yrs? Damnnnnnnnnnnnn. I think you've been tolerent enough, lemon law it. You get to keep it until it's settled, most likely by a new bike or a good chunk of change to add to the trade for a new one.
